I Am A Positive Affirmation!

May 10th, 2008 RonnieNijmeh Posted in Self Help | No Comments »

Affirmations have been used since the beginning of time. We use affirmations to help us lose weight, get a better paying job, stop smoking, and even be more outgoing in social settings. Positive affirmations help us build self-confidence and self-esteem. We use affirmations to control our fears and anxieties and remind us of how we are making a positive difference in our lives. Positive affirmations can be successfully utilized in all areas to enhance personal growth.

What is an Affirmation?

An affirmation is a statement that you repeat to yourself constantly. People use affirmations constantly without realizing what they are doing.

For example: you walk on the treadmill in the early morning, jump in the shower afterwards and then head to work when you are finished. On the drive in you think: “I feel awesome!” That is a positive affirmation. You drag yourself out of bed, take your shower and then head to work when you are finished. On the drive to work, you may think: “I feel lousy!” Obviously, that’s a negative affirmation. Both statements contribute to the emotional state you are in. So why not choose to be positive? You’ll feel better and perform better!

When we talk to ourselves, the things we say are very important because they have direct influence on our conscious and subconscious mind. We listen to everything we say to ourselves whether it is audible, or it comes from our subconscious mind. Positive affirmations are essential in maintaining a healthy flow of positive thoughts into our minds. We can use them to transform the negative affirmations of our past into positive affirmations that will move us forward to the goals we wish to obtain in our lives. It takes diligence in the beginning to change how we think, but the results will be worth the effort.

It is important to always make sure that the positive affirmations you choose are personal in many aspects. You will want to always state them in the first person and in the present tense, for example “I am healthy and slim, and I only eat when I am hungry.” You have made it personal, and in the words that you would use in normal conversation. Plus you’re not talking about “theoreticals,” you are talking about the here-and-now. If you make the positive affirmations too complicated or wordy, you will have a hard time remembering them and soon get discouraged and give up.

When you actually state the positive affirmation out loud, you need to state it with enthusiasm and feeling. “I am an awesome team player,” or “I am a valuable asset to my company!” And to make sure that the affirmations take hold you need to continue reciting them daily for an extended period of time until they become a natural part of your thought patterns.

A list of positive affirmations to help you achieve your goal for inner harmony is below:

• I choose to balance my work schedule well.

• I sleep peacefully each night.

• I encourage and praise my kids each day.

• I brighten my day by smiling at others.

• I am a good listener for my friends.

• I enjoy the wonderful home that I have created for my family.

• I am a beautiful person inside and out.

A Time To Work And A Time To Play!

May 10th, 2008 RonnieNijmeh Posted in Self Help | No Comments »

There are very few aspects in life that require as much balance as juggling the nine to five work schedule plus your relationship, kids, home, and personal lives. Whether you are single, married with children, or married without children each of these situations has their own individual challenges when it comes to balancing the work-life load. Utilizing work-life balance affirmations will help you to master the demands of the work environment while still maintaining a healthy “play” life.

The Single Life

If you’re single, you may be making the erroneous conclusion that work is the definition of your life achievements. The argument for this conclusion is that you live alone, therefore there is no one to appreciate whether you make your bed in the morning, or pick up your dirty clothes. So, you may define your own worth in how successful you are in the work environment. This translates into long hours at the office, with your “play” time consisting of making contacts at after-hour business socials.

There is considerable wisdom in the old adage “All work and no play makes Jack - or Jill - a dull boy” (or girl, of course). We all must balance both our work and their play life with positive work-life balance affirmations. For example: “I enjoy spending quality time with myself apart from work.” or “My job reflects that I am an intelligent, passionate person.” or “I choose to invest time in the things I like to do.”

Married without Children

A working couple with no children may lead to many nights such as the following: A king size bed with two very intense individuals, each with a laptop and a myriad of paperwork scattered next to them, and one of the many late night shows playing in the background. These individuals need positive work-life balance affirmations in order for them not to lose focus on each other, nor themselves. For example: “I appreciate the fact that my spouse and I both have careers.” or “I appreciate the time we have as a family and I actively seek out more time for just us.” or “I am enriched by both my work and my play.”

Married with Children

Finally, there is the challenge of balancing work with a family with children. It is a balance of not only work and the life of the family; but also balancing their own personal time in the mix. Their positive work-life balance affirmations might be as follows: “I choose to set work aside and spend time with my family free from thoughts of work.” or “I cherish the quiet moments with the love of my life.” or “I appreciate the opportunity to be with my loving family.” or “I love spending my time off playing with my children.”

A list of positive affirmations to help you achieve your goal for work-life balance is below:

• I keep work and play in a healthy balance.

• I deserve to spend time relaxing.

• I deserve to spend time enjoying my family.

• I have a balanced life.

• I cherish the time I have to enjoy my spouse.

• I enjoy my work and the excellent job that I do.

• I enjoy my time to play with my children.

Jogging With Positive Affirmations

May 10th, 2008 RonnieNijmeh Posted in Self Help | No Comments »

There are few areas more in need of positive affirmations than the exercise arena.

If the majority of us were honest, we would say that on a scale of one to ten, the natural desire to exercise would be at a negative 80. Yet, if we were equally as honest, we would have to admit that after we engage in exercise of any form, we feel awesome and invigorated; and, for that brief post-exercise moment, the same scale would jump to a positive 80.

So why is it that our exercise resolutions wax and wane on a constant basis? The most basic reason is that we have been bombarded with negative affirmations of how hard and “non-fun” exercise is, and that we have to endure it for the positive effects that we will gain in our health and well-being.

Endorphins are physically produced during strenuous exercise and cause you to feel an incredible sense of well-being. Yet, even with this invigorated feeling, it still hasn’t changed people’s exercise habits!

If there were an ability to remember the refreshing and amazing feelings of well-being that are experienced after exercise, we’d all be going to the gym every day. That is where positive exercise affirmations will be your most supportive workout partner. By correctly utilizing these positive exercise affirmations on a daily basis, you will exercise with enjoyable conviction.

Setting Real, Achievable Exercise Goals

To begin with, it is necessary to define the goals that you wish to achieve before you begin, ensuring your success is based on realistic and achievable milestones. Next, you need to realize that positive exercise affirmations, just like any positive affirmations, need to be tailored to who you are in order for them to be successful. In other words, an individual who puts on their t-shirt, shorts and sneakers and hits the pavement to run for an hour needs to understand their own needs, otherwise negative affirmations will swirl through their body and mind, such as: “My legs hurt! I can’t breathe! I can’t do this! Am I there yet?” Negative exercise affirmations can cause your mind to find any excuse to stop altogether.

On the other hand, the individual who puts on a wet suit and water shoes, then grabs a paddle and kayak and hits the river for two hours repeating to himself: “I love the peace and quiet of the river. I enjoy the rhythm of each stroke through the water. I can hear my heart and lungs in happy rhythm together as they get stronger!” These are positive exercise affirmations and this same individual will find other forms of “exercise” to fulfill their life.

Free Positive Affirmations Examples

Some more free positive affirmations to help you achieve your goal for exercise balance are as follows:

• I enjoy listening to the sound of my beating heart in exercise. With each beat, it strengths.

• I love the feel of the pavement beneath my running shoes. I feel strong and in control.

• I enjoy listening to the beautiful sounds of nature as I walk around the block.

• I love the wind against my face as I jog around my neighborhood.

• I cherish the time I spend making my body stronger for life.

Beat The Stress Clock!

May 10th, 2008 RonnieNijmeh Posted in Self Help | No Comments »

Not all stress is distress. A certain amount of stress or pressure is necessary to maintain a healthy balance physically and mentally. There are actually several degrees of stress. Probably one of the most important aspects of dealing with the negative stress in your life is through positive stress affirmations.

Positive affirmations can be a part of your first response to stress triggers.

It would be wonderful if we could a place that is calming and peaceful so you can relax and recite positive affirmations without interruption. The problem is, stress generally doesn’t choose the moments in our lives when we have the luxury of stepping away and collecting ourselves; therefore your affirmations have to be rooted and instinctive.

The lowest degree of stress is distress, which can lead to frustration, boredom or dissatisfaction - even severe health effects such as complete exhaustion, heart attacks, and stroke. This stress chips away at us, which can slowly disintegrate our body and mind. And it can even create many negative affirmations ingrained in our minds. This, of course, needs to be addressed and we need to refocus our mind.

Examples of Positive Stress Affirmations

Here are two examples of positive stress affirmations for the distress situations that arise:

“There are so many things to explore and do in life.” or “I am content to be in my circumstances.”

The most destructive stress is the extreme stress, which leads to irrational problem solving and very often anger. This stress can cause you to make poor judgment calls that destroy your credibility and decision making processes.

Coping with Extreme Stress through Affirmations

Some positive stress affirmations that need to become ingrained to counteract extreme stress could be the following: “I will never make a major decision when I am angry or totally stressed.” “I will seek a trusted friend for wise counsel before taking action when I am stressed out.”

There is such a thing as “healthy” stress. It’s called eustress, or positive stress. This stress leads to positive growth, satisfaction, newfound knowledge, rational problem solving and creativity. Using this particular stress to energize your positive stress affirmations for the destructive distress and extreme stress would be productive.

We need to reevaluate how we manage the stress in our life and recognize the situations that are unique to us that put us into stress mode. For one person the craziness of an insanely busy workday could stretch them to the limit; while another person would thrive on this high energy. Find the eustress in your life that you can tap into and use the creative energy to calm you when you are under the distress or destructive stress influence.

Some free positive affirmations to help you achieve your goal for inner harmony in a stressful world are as follows:

• I can balance my time in order to keep me from being bored.

• I choose not to make life-changing decisions when I am stressed.

• I take a step back from conversations when I am too stressed to be rational.

• I evaluate what I find stressful and choose to move past it.

• I am a calm problem solver.

• I value the counsel of others when I can’t see the forest for the trees.

Food For Thought Affirmations!

May 10th, 2008 RonnieNijmeh Posted in Self Help | No Comments »

There are certain aspects in our life that we can use positive affirmations to totally redirect our negative associations. Eating, however, is a necessity of life in order for us to exist, therefore the use of positive eating affirmations are used for redirecting the negative eating habits that we have formed over many years for many different reasons. The initial step is to identify what unhealthy eating practices we have adopted into our behavior in order for us to set the proper positive eating affirmations.

We can use positive eating affirmations to curb our appetite when we are emotionally eating. Emotional eating tends to be the biggest challenge when it comes to creating a new healthy lifestyle.

We all need help when it comes to making healthy food choices. If not, we somehow approve of negative affirmations, no matter how ridiculous they are. For example, we may say to ourselves (either consciously or sub-consciously): “This double-decker cheeseburger and large fries, followed by a half gallon of peanut butter fudge ice cream will make me feel better.” Really? You think so? Because that tends to make people sleepy, tired, and crash from a sugar high. But that’s an example of a negative affirmation that we often catch ourselves doing, especially when we feel upset or alone.

Choosing Positive Eating Affirmations

Instead, we could repeat the following daily positive affirmation: “My health is important, and even when I am unhappy, I still choose to be healthy.”

It is important to write down your positive eating affirmations and place them in prominent places in order for you to remember and call upon them when the temptations strike you. Place them in the snack food areas and on the refrigerator.

Disallow Temptation and Strengthen your Resolve with Positive Affirmations

Choose to make positive eating affirmations and I assure you that it will help with those challenging moments. What you have to promise me is that you’ll make these affirmations readily accessible at any time. In fact, affirmations should become a part of you, ingrained in your mind!

When you go to the supermarket bring your positive eating affirmations with you on 3×5 cards, or write it down on your shopping list. Let it serve as a constant reminder to choose foods that are inline with your goals, not just because it’s on sale or because you’re craving sugary or salty snacks.

You can even use positive eating affirmations when you occasionally mess up. “I am getting fit and healthier because of my eating choices.” or “Though I have made some poor choices in eating healthy foods, I am committed to getting back on track, starting now.”

You will not only find that you feel better emotionally, but your body will be stronger for the vitamins and minerals that you are incorporating into your new eating habits. They say it takes six weeks to form a habit, and three months before it is second nature. So, you need to bear this in mind as you start reciting your positive eating affirmations.

Free Positive Eating Affirmation Examples

I’ve included a list of starter positive eating affirmations to help you on your path to a healthy life. Your reward will be when you instinctively reach for the healthy foods when you are shopping or when you resist junk foods when you’re bored or stressed. Subconsciously your mind is making the healthy eating choices because of the mental redesign that you have implemented.

Some additional positive affirmations to help you achieve your goal for healthy eating balance are as follows:

• I choose healthy comfort foods because I love me.

• I pass up the offers of unhealthy snacks and desserts because I have a strong will.

• I willfully choose what I put into my mouth.

• I buy the foods that will make my body stronger.

• I cherish the added vigor and vibrancy that healthy eating gives me.

• I eat when I am hungry, not when I am bored.

Law Of Attraction, Limiting Beliefs And Low Self-worth

May 9th, 2008 WendyBetterini Posted in Self Help | No Comments »

The longer I practice the art of deliberate creation in my life, the more aware I become of the massive limitations I have placed on myself over the years. You wouldn’t think that beliefs could be so powerful - after all, a belief is just a thought, right?

Actually, it’s a thought that has IMMENSE POWER. The power to mold and shape your life experiences like you wouldn’t believe. You won’t allow yourself to do, be or have anything unless you believe it’s possible.

When I look back over my life, I see an endless series of limiting beliefs that governed every area of my life. My career. My health. My relationships. My finances. My self-worth. My happiness. Sometimes I wish I could travel back in time and whisper to the girl I was, “Hey, you can break free from these dark thoughts - just switch your focus!” She probably wouldn’t listen anyway; she was pretty stubborn. :-)

Have you ever wished you could go back and do things differently? I often think, “Wow, where would I be today if I’d known how powerful I was years ago?” You’ve probably had similar thoughts about your own life.

Even though we can’t go back and do it over again, we can start fresh right NOW. Imagine ten or twenty years from now, looking back on your life and seeing immense growth and progress. Imagine the joy of knowing that you took control of where you were going and formed your life into a masterpiece of love, happiness, abundance and fulfillment!

Of course, before that can happen, you’ll need to take a good hard look at your limiting beliefs. I’ve been doing this for years and I don’t think I’ll be done any time soon - maybe ever. ;-) Every time I think I’ve cleared out all the “can’ts, won’ts, and what ifs” a new batch pops up and waves at me and I start the process all over again. The same thing may happen to you, but it’s still a powerful process that is well worth the effort.

To start, ask yourself: How have I been holding myself back? If I could truly create ANYTHING I wanted, what would it be - and why do I believe it’s impossible for me? Which inner voices keep me locked in a cycle of lack, dissatisfaction, turmoil and frustration? And which thoughts would override the limiting beliefs and begin to draw something better into my life?

Then begin choosing those thoughts as often as you can and turning your attention away from the old, limiting beliefs.

Once you get to the root of your limiting beliefs and begin transforming them, you may encounter another type of limiting belief - and for many people this is a doozy: LOW SELF-WORTH.

This belief has a voice too, and it usually repeats monotonously, “I don’t deserve to be wealthy, who am I kidding? Other people have it so much harder than I do, I should be giving everything I own to charity. I’ve got no business whining about not having enough money. When did I become such a wimp? So what if I hate my job and my relationships are falling apart and I have a lot of health problems? I need to stop all this daydreaming and face reality once and for all. This is my lot in life (or my cross to bear, etc).”

But sometimes this voice isn’t so obvious. Sometimes it’s much more subtle, like when it creates an underlying feeling of discomfort when you think about wanting to achieve a greater state of abundance. You may desire more money, bigger income, financial freedom and more - but you will only allow into your life the amount of money you believe you DESERVE.

Likewise for all other life experiences. It doesn’t matter how badly you want something; if you don’t believe you deserve to have it, you simply won’t allow it in. For that reason, it is also beneficial to spend some time exploring what you believe you deserve in all areas of your life.

Do you believe you deserve to be in a truly loving and harmonious relationship? Really? What about money and income? How much do you believe you deserve to have? What about where you live, the type of home and neighborhood you live in? What about your work? Do you believe you must work very hard to make ends meet? Do you feel resentful and disgusted by wealthy people who throw money around carelessly?

All of these thoughts and feelings are CLUES about what is happening within you; the beliefs that rule your life. Once you start exploring them you can easily identify the ones that may be holding you back and transform them - which will change the outer experiences of your life!

The good news is that the more you delve into these limiting beliefs, fears and doubts, the more proficient you will become at weeding them out and exchanging them for something better. Over time you’ll develop a powerful awareness of these “unwelcome houseguests” when they have taken up residence in your mind - and you’ll have the confidence to boot them right out the door! :-)

But your work STILL won’t be done yet. Once you’ve booted out some limiting beliefs, you’ll realize that you were holding limiting beliefs about your limiting beliefs, and limiting beliefs about your ability to boot out limiting beliefs, and limiting beliefs about your perception of your limiting beliefs… You’ll have an ever-increasing awareness that you can still do better, and better and BETTER yet!

Every moment will become a precious journey of evolvement - that will keep leading you to ever higher levels of joy, abundance and awe. It never ends. And you won’t want it to end! Once you release your fear, you realize that this process of evolvement is a whole lot of fun. Sometimes it’s wildly exciting, and sometimes you may get frightened and start thinking about a safe little hole you can hide in for awhile. :-) That’s okay too.

Be gentle with yourself. Move at your own pace. Enjoy the journey. Embrace the unfolding of a better you, a better life, an easier way of BEING. It’s wondrous and breathtaking, and you deserve every bit of it! You deserve to have everything you want. And you can if you just allow yourself to let go and open to it. Open your heart, open your mind, open your arms. Everything you desire is rushing toward you right now - just let it in.

5 Ways To Make Absolutely Sure You Get Nothing Done Today

May 9th, 2008 JillBorash Posted in Self Help | No Comments »

A tongue-in-cheek article about how to waste your day. There’s some helpful hints at the end… honest!

1. Don’t spend more than 5 minutes on any one project.

Five minutes is the perfect amount of time to get something started but not completed. I recommend starting the day with a 5 minute shower (If you can get completely showered in less than 5 minutes, you’re a better woman than I am. Between the shampoo, conditioner and trying to get my legs shaved, I find it impossible.). No one will notice that the shampoo is still in your hair. Follow that up with a 5 minute breakfast (better make it a granola bar or you’ll never get it down in time). And then spend all of your time at work doing no more than 5 minute projects (Since that little mail icon always pops up every five minutes with a new email message, this shouldn’t be too difficult). Five minute dinner. No more than 5 minutes on any one TV show (just give the remote to the man in your house). And there you go, you’ve spent no more than 5 minutes on any one project today.

2. Make sure that you get up late.

There is no better way to get your day off on the wrong foot than to get up late. It almost guarantees that you will not be on time to anything all day and that you will feel like you’re constantly trying to catch up. This is also a great way to make sure that you stay stressed out all day. Of course if you really want to make sure you don’t get anything done today, just don’t bother getting out of bed at all.

3. Do not, under any circumstances, write out a “to do” list or task list for the day.

This would be a much too productive use of your time. Better yet, write out what you’re not going to do today. Of course, don’t spend more than five minutes on this list (see point number 1 above).

4. Completely stop your day for any interruption that comes your way.

If a co-worker interrupts you to chat, drop what you’re doing and talk to them. Make sure to pick up the phone every time that it rings. If it is a solicitor, so much the better. Take the time to talk to them and hear full details about whatever product or service they are offering. Oh, and remember that little mail icon that pops up every 5 minutes? Make sure you click on it every time it pops up and read the new message.

5. Make sure to multi-task as much as possible.

Try to be doing at least two things at once at all times during your day, preferably more than two things. Talking on the phone and driving your car is a great way to start. Be sure to carry that through your workday. Talk on the phone while drafting that important letter for the CEO.

Of course, if you would rather get something done today, do the exact reverse of all of the tips above. Here’s a few things that can help.

1. Tackle one project at a time. Focus on one thing and see it through to the finish. And if you have the little mail icon that pops up every time you have a new email message, disable it. It just ends up being a distraction.

2. Get up on time. If you do happen to start your day late, stop yourself from going into panic mode. Take a few deep breaths and just focus on what you need to get done. Inform anyone who needs to know that you’re running late. Keeping your emotions calm will help put you in a proactive state of mind rather than reactive.

3. First thing in the morning, write out your task list for the day. Anything you didn’t get done yesterday should also go on this list. Then prioritize the list.

4. Minimize the distractions during your day. If at all possible, schedule certain times during the day when you will make and return phone calls. Same thing with email messages. Be polite but firm with co-workers who interrupt you when you’re working on completing a project. If it is an issue that they need to discuss with you, schedule a time to meet with them.

5. Focus on one task at a time. Devote your full attention to every task that you do, no matter how trivial the task seems. Strive to be fully present in every moment of your day and for every situation.

Praxeology And The New Age Of Enlightenment

May 9th, 2008 Robert Posted in Self Help | No Comments »

Praxeology - The Science of Human Action

Praxeology (Human Action) is the study of individuals and their actions. Unfortunately, the term and the science are pretty much unknown. The reason for this is that the enemies of liberty and freedom would prefer that you didn’t learn anything about it. If you understood the laws of human action you would demand an end to the disastrous policies that absolute moralists and other enemies of the individual have foisted upon “society.”

The decadence and decay you see in our institutions is the swan song of an age that’s passing by. Of course, the ones in power don’t have any desire to relinquish their privileged positions. They will tell any lie, violate anyone’s liberty and even resort to violence to retain their power positions. That is the reason why wars, terrorism and economic turmoil are the rule of the day.

Fortunately change is in the air. More people are becoming acquainted with the laws of human action and its better known part economics. The power structure can try to “keep you dumb.” Their efforts will be in vain. As the Borg in Star Trek say “Resistance is futile.” And they are right. Resistance to the changes that are occurring in the New Age of Enlightenment is futile.

A revolution in personal development

The New Age has resulted in an increased interest in spiritual development. Many have adopted New Age Spirituality and a daily practice of meditation. They are seeking a higher awareness and a greater understanding of the world within and the world around them.

Meditation practices have made the spiritually aware more sensitive to the beauty that surrounds them. They have a greater appreciation for the colors and sounds of nature. Their increased sensitivity to music has unleashed sublime emotions that most are oblivious to. They experience greater ecstasy and pleasure in their sexual relationships. And they reason with a heightened clarity. They live “The Libertarian Way” to the fullest.

Enlightened individuals will eventually withdraw their support of the power structure. Absolute moralists and power-mongers may attempt to regain control–but you can’t control individuals who have discovered inner awareness. Oppressive governments and institutions will wither away.

Conclusion: The glorious age of mankind

Karl Marx was totally wrong about the efficacy of socialism. Ludwig von Mises proved that socialism can’t work because economic calculation is impossible if you abolish markets. However Marx did provide us with several insights.

1. Any interference with the workings of the capitalistic system will delay the coming of the glorious age of mankind. Mises proved that any government intervention in the economy will only sabotage the marketplace. Events have proven him right.

2. When capitalism reaches its highest state of productivity–the glorious age of mankind will arrive. He was of course wrong about socialism being the glorious age.

3. As we close in on the glorious age of mankind the State will wither away. He didn’t exactly put it in those words but that is the essence of his earlier teachings. Here is actually what will happen.

4. Enough people will discover the laws of praxeology. All government intervention in the economy will disappear. This results in the age of unhampered capitalism. The productivity of human effort soars to the stratosphere. Minutes of labor produces what 8 hours or more currently produces. In fact we can’t even envision what productive effort will look like or what it will produce. With all the additional free time available the powers of the mind and spirit reach unknown heights of awareness and ecstasy.

5. New Age thought (a much improved version of what we’re currently seeing) results in a significant amount of people becoming spiritually enlightened. Love and harmony reigns supreme on earth. All the pleasure and ecstasy that can be experienced in The Libertarian Way of Life will be greatly enhanced for enlightened beings.

You might be thinking none of us will be around to experience this “Glorious Age.” Personally I believe we are eternal and will evolve along with the systems of mankind. We will be around to experience it. If I’m wrong we can at least experience the satisfaction of being the fathers and mothers of the Age of Enlightenment. No matter what we are all victorious. How wonderful!

Robert A. Meyer has been investigating and studying economics, philosophy, psychology and metaphysics for 30 years. His knowledge that life is to be lived on a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual level allowed him to discover “The Libertarian Way.” http://libertarianway.com

Change - Maker Of Despair Or Maker Of Life’s Pleasures And Ecstasies

May 9th, 2008 Robert Posted in Self Help | No Comments »

Maker of despair

Oh change, cruel change. Just as a fickle love can be, change is a maker of despair.

How attached we become in our ways. If only things would remain as they are. How entrenched we are in our comfort zone.

Even in our pain and suffering we can be resistant to change. Of course our current success can also make us resist change. If only the world would let us rest on our laurels.

Resistance to change is a major impetus to destructive government intervention in the economy. Established interests seek the government’s apparatus of compulsion and coercion to keep things as they are or to move things in a different unnatural direction. Why be at the mercy of the changing whims of the consumers.

What is ironic is the fact that since we are all consumers we wear two different masks. One mask is resistant to change if it threatens our vested interests. The other is clamoring for more new products and services. As can be seen this behavior is neurotic and irrationally selfish.

However, since change is one of the a priori principles of human action it’s the essence of life. Non-change is decay and death. The very concept of non-change is unthinkable.

Look at your life. Everything you are or have is the result of change. You certainly can’t physically remain a baby, child or adolescent. Lack of change is stagnation and violates the laws of nature.

You have a choice. You can allow change to be your maker of despair. You can stagnate in misery and denial–or you can embrace change and be one of those rare individuals who anticipates it and acts accordingly.

Maker of the pleasures and ecstasies of life

Ah, without change there wouldn’t be your next exciting lovemaking experience, hearing your favorite song again, watching your favorite football team play the next game, enjoying dinner with your family, anticipating another exciting event happening in your life, etc. In fact there wouldn’t be life.

Fear and the lack of self-confidence to handle the vicissitudes of life cause most people to dread change. It’s so easy to remain in your comfort zone. A famous clich

The Christmas Angels And The Sheppard’s

May 9th, 2008 JoeWill Posted in Short Stories | No Comments »

A Story of Angels Visiting the Sheppard’s.

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem an angel of Christmas appeared to the shepherds telling them of the Christ Childs birth. This is a fictional story of two of the trumpeting angels that had always been best of friends. The two angels were easily recognized. One of the angels wore a robe of sunset pink and the other angel dressed in a sky blue robe. The two angel friends were renowned for their sweet duets they played on their pure silver trumpets for the glorification of the Lord. All the other angels would gather around to listen as the duet played their harmonious tunes. Honored for their musical ability, the trumpeting angels of Christmas were often asked to lead the orchestra with the first few notes of a song.

One day the orchestra members were called together for an exciting announcement. At the beginning of one of the practice session, the orchestra leader Temira said, “Lift up your instruments, and lift up our hearts.” The Lord was preparing to send his Son to live among and teach the Lords messages to the people on earth. A jubilee of music was planned for this monumental event. Every sweet, angelic voice would sing, every musical instrument would play. “Who can explain the importance of our newest assignment?” asked Temira. The trumpeting angel in pink stood and spoke. “The Lord has commanded that we appear on a cold winter night to the shepherds in the hills of Bethlehem. These shepherds might fear the us. They have never even seen one of us before, much less a sky filled with heavenly angels.” Then the angel in blue continued, “We will fill the shepherd’s hearts with the joy of our music. Their fear will be replaced with love, and then we will tell the shepherds about the Savior and his birth in a stable located in Bethlehem.” “Wonderful!” said Temira with a smile. Honored to be part of the jubilee, all of the orchestra members planned to practice their parts to perfection. They hurried away, discussing the duet that would start the concert.

Finally, the evening came when the Lord’s Son was born in a tiny stable in the city of Bethlehem. According to the plan, the heavenly angels of Christmas would appear first to the shepherds in the hills outside the little village of Bethlehem. The entire host of musical angels stationed themselves on that cold winter night in the dark sky. On cue, the trumpeting angels lifted their instruments and played the first few notes of the world’s most glorious concert. As their music filled the sky, the shepherds looked up in amazement. Their hearts were filled with the awesome glory of God. The angels told the shepherds of the good tidings of great joy, the angels were joined by a host of angels singing “Glory to god in the highest, and on earth peace, good will to men” and they praised God. After the angels had departed the Sheppard’s in their amassment were thrilled and humbled at what they had just witnessed. The Sheppard’s decided to follow the angel’s directions and they took part in the greatest adventure of all time.
